Ability to add PowerApps Apps into the Office 365 Home App Launcher Submitted by gmonne on 03:51 AM It would be great if we could launch PowerApps Apps from within the Office 365 Home Screen.

Your app launcher might contain more or fewer tiles than our example. The app launcher you see depends on what's included in your Office 365 subscription. Some tiles might not show up in your app launcher until those features are activated (this is typically done by Office 365 administrators). For example, if your Office 365 administrator has not activated Yammer, you won't see a tile for Yammer in your app launcher. In addition to rearranging your tiles in the app launcher, you can also pin up to three apps to your navigation bar in Office 365.
Besides the app launcher, you can use the Office 365 home page to access all your apps and services in Office 365. The home page looks like this.
There are some upcoming improvements to the Office 365 App Launcher that just appeared on the roadmap that is worth knowing about, that are in development: 'We’re introducing a new way to explore and understand all the apps in your Office 365 subscription with the Office 365 App Gallery. This additional view is accessed via the App Launcher and Office 365 Homepage to help users learn about the apps that are available to them.'
Feature ID: 20468 'We’re updating the Office 365 App Launcher to help you get more done from anywhere in Office 365. Changes include a simplified apps list, access to recent documents, and improved navigation of company-wide apps and services.' Feature ID: 20465 This sounds great and as Office 365 grows with more services, a simplified interface that helps bring these together is only going to help with productivity. We now have more details via the Message center and a first look at the improved app launcher! The rollout begins mid-October to First Release with a completed rollout early 2018.
This updated app launcher is more personalized and a simpler way to help users open and switch between the apps they use the most. More particulars include the redesigned main view now emphasizes the most used applications across Office 365.
It also highlights additional apps relevant to your users. For example, teachers and students may see education-specific apps.
With the new app launcher, any additional apps that aren’t already pinned by default, and a user has opened in the previous 45 days, will be automatically added to their main view. Further info available. By the way, custom tiles appear in their own 'Admin selected apps' section in the All apps list. They will only be shown in the main view if pinned by users.
Some welcome changes to the App launcher. We have been seeking ways in which to segment or compartmentalize the tiles, so seems this is heading in the right direction.
Some questions about “most used Office 365 apps” vs. “apps chosen for specific types of users”. What determines “most used Office 365 apps”? Is that an MS designation? An organizational designation?
A dynamic designation?. What are “apps chosen for specific types of users”? Are these specified per AD group? For other user attribute?
Good questions Alon. I took the 'most used Office 365 apps' to be the core apps that typically most Office 365 users use, for that particular licence assignment, that is also influenced be additional types of users as mentioned such as student, teacher or Dynamics 365 user. As you have pointed out, how exactly are these apps specifically chosen and how might they be managed in any way, isn't clear.
We know any apps used 45 days prior to the rollout, are automatically added to the main view and after the rollout, these apps are set and then can be changed manually by the user but not much more than that. If I come across any additional information about this, I'll post it here. Hi, I don't have any insider information, that's the first I have seen of that issue.
Perhaps open a service request, if the issue persists and depending on how widespread it is, that way it can be investigated and hopefully resolved. My documents are displayed ok in Outlook on the web for example, so it's hard to say if it's just a temporary glitch or more problematic with what you are experiencing.
A general question to anyone, can you no longer pin apps to the 'nav bar' per? I had the admin app pinned there and it's no longer displayed and I don't see an option for it anymore? Just to confirm, admins can still add custom tiles, which users can pin to their main view of apps making them easy to access. I don't think much has changed in that regards, per this. These apps are easier to find now as they are in there own section 'Admin selected apps' under 'All apps' if that's what you were talking about. What isn't an option is to pin your three favourite apps to the nav bar, which is a shame as it was a quick way to access an app. I assume this has been done for the sake of simplicity if that's true but it would be nice if it was mentioned in the above article.
So I was working from home yesterday on my Mac with Safari, and my 3 previous tiles were still pinned and available. Is it possibly that this is only unavailable on Windows browsers at the moment? Also, I just cleared my browser cache and TADA!
The new portal is available. The first thing I tried was the search box on the top right and unfortunately the search experience still sucks!
Why Microsoft? I ran a search for a keyword and got 1 document result back, but when doing the same search on SharePoint Home I get more than 2 pages of results. I don't get it. When we introduced behavior in the launcher where clicking on a new app always opened a new browser tab in Targeted Release, we received overwhelming customer feedback that users disliked the change. The general sentiment was that users are well-versed in using browser functionality to open and manage browser tabs and consequently, preferred a default of in-tab navigation. Based on this, we rolled back that functionality and deferred to browser functionality as well as the option in the ellipsis menu for all of the apps in the O365 app launcher that allows a user to open an app in a new tab.
